Abstract

The article provides recommendations for the use of an adjustable electric drive
on drilling equipment. The correct choice of the electric motor, as well as the method
of its regulation when performing a given production and technological process, in
particular drilling, can ensure the safety, reliability and durability of the working
machine. The adjustable electric drive must have high overload capabilities in a wide
range of speed control, and the electric drive control system must limit the torque in
steady-state operating modes. An increasing number of drilling equipment today are
being re-equipped with adjustable AC electric drives. The explanation for this is the
progress in microelectronics, the use of which allows using small microelements to
implement control algorithms for an alternating current electric motor. Equipping an
asynchronous electric motor with a frequency converter allows you to automate its
operation mode by changing the speed of rotation of the executive body, depending on
the load, as well as maintaining optimal modes in the areas of braking, acceleration,
stopping and starting.
