In the article presents one of the creative legacies of Academician O.D. Alimov, dedicated to the development of techniques and technology of natural stone mining. The brief essence of scientific and applied research carried out under his leadership in this direction is outlined. The classification of means and methods of separating blocks of stone from the array is presented. Models of technological processes of separating blocks of stone by drilling delineating boreholes and separating slots taking into account natural cracks in the massif are developed. Generalized relationships of the main indicators of the technological process and the totality of the main factors are obtained. The design features of the created pilot samples of stringing drilling installations and stone-cutting machines are given.Briefly described information about the research under the leadership of O.D. Alimov processing of natural stone directional split. The results of research and developed prototypes of adaptive stone-cutting presses are presented.The results of continuation of O.D. Alimov's work by his students and followers are shown, which will be implemented in the future.
